Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Data Informatics. How it works, how it integrates, and how it makes crews reliable and rotations predictable.

General

What is Data Informatics and who is it for?+
Data Informatics is a human workforce platform purpose-built for FIFO operations across mining, energy, and remote infrastructure. We focus on crew reliability, keeping the same trusted people showing up swing after swing. It is built for superintendents, roster managers, workforce planners, and site operations teams.
How is Data Informatics different from generic workforce tools?+
Most tools optimise cost, hours, or compliance. Data Informatics centres show-up reliability and consistency with FIFO-native features like standby crew management, cross-site pools, and backfill alerts. The platform is built around how mining operations actually run, not how HR departments wish they ran.
How quickly can we see value?+
Commonly within the first few swings. Reducing even a handful of no-shows or late backfills creates rapid ROI and calmer rosters. Most teams see reliability improvements with their first crew.
Is it a replacement for our existing HR or payroll system?+
No. Data Informatics handles operational rostering and attendance. Who is showing up to site. It sits alongside your HR and payroll systems, not instead of them. We complement rosters by preventing the gaps that rosters cannot anticipate.

Features

How does attendance confirmation work?+
When a roster is published, each crew member receives a WhatsApp message with their swing dates. They tap Yes or No. The superintendent sees real-time status on the attendance panel. Who has confirmed, who is declining, who has not responded. No phone calls, no chasing.
How does standby crew and backfill automation work?+
When someone drops out, Data Informatics automatically identifies pre-cleared standby personnel, routes alerts, and confirms coverage. Backfills are fast and predictable instead of manual scrambles at 5am.
What is cross-site pools?+
It lets you share proven crews across projects, respecting rotation windows, travel constraints, and readiness. Downtime at one site can stabilise another without breaking consistency.
What is Certify+ and readiness checking?+
Certify+ tracks inductions, qualifications, and site-specific requirements so only cleared personnel are scheduled and mobilised. Issues are flagged early, before travel is booked.
Can I import my existing roster from Excel?+
Yes. You can import crew lists from CSV or Excel. The platform also supports spreadsheet-style editing in the roster grid with full copy-paste support. API and file sync integration is also available.
Is there an audit trail?+
Every roster publish creates an immutable snapshot. You can compare any two versions side-by-side and see plain language diffs of what changed, who changed it, and when. Built for fatigue management compliance, dispute resolution, and superintendent handovers.
Do you provide reliability analytics?+
Yes. Managers can track reliability scores, see trendlines for no-shows, standby usage, and recovery speed. Turning consistency into a measurable KPI.

Onboarding and workflow

Is implementation disruptive?+
No. We start with one crew or project, connect your roster source via API or Excel, and scale from there. Most teams are hands-on within days.
Can we keep our current rostering system?+
Absolutely. Data Informatics complements your roster, filling gaps it cannot predict, and integrates via API or file syncs.
Do crew members need to install an app?+
No. Crew members interact entirely through WhatsApp. They receive messages and tap to confirm. Superintendents use the web platform or mobile app.
What about low connectivity on remote sites?+
Field workflows are designed for intermittent connectivity. Crews can update status offline and sync when the network is available.

Security and admin

How is our data secured?+
Encryption in transit and at rest, tenant-scoped data isolation, role-based access, and audited operations. We follow cloud security best practices. Each organisation's data is completely separate from others on the platform.
Can permissions reflect our org structure?+
Yes. Role-based access control for global admins, company admins, superintendents, and crew roles. Only the right people see the right data.
How do users sign in?+
Magic link email. Enter your email, receive a sign-in link, click it. No passwords to manage or forget. Enterprise SSO via Microsoft Entra is on the roadmap.

Pricing and support

How is Data Informatics priced?+
Flexible per-seat or per-site models depending on footprint. We will scope a plan that fits your crews and rollout pace. Contact us for details.
What support and training do we get?+
Guided onboarding, documentation, training sessions, and ongoing support. We also offer reliability reviews to help you tune settings over time.
Can we try a demo before committing?+
Yes. Sign in to explore the platform with sample data, or book a tailored demo for your FIFO workflows. Contact us when you are ready to onboard your first crew.
